This week we have a little advice about how to make your trip the most interesting, personal one you can — by getting off the beaten path! Although covering the famous sights in a travel destination is awesome too, it can be really fun and adventurous to go see things less-traveled. We have some tips and stories for inspiration on things we’ve done while traveling in places where we decided to say “yes” when given the opportunity to hang out with locals or expats who knew the area well and had some time to show us around. Here are some tips on doing that:
- Don’t be afraid to talk to people
- Wander around aimlessly
- Choose a destination on the map and go there
- Take public transportation
- Follow a theme (like history, or haunted stuff!)
- Go off-season
- Be spontaneous!
