Episode 43: The Basque Language

basque

Hey there, language nerds! We’re back with the long-awaited episode on the Basque language! Basque is an incredibly unique culture and language. We dive into information about the Basque landscape and sports before talking about the history of the language and why it’s so unique. Then we get a little wild and dissect the structure and grammar of Basque. We try to break it down into terms that everybody can understand, and then give a little listen to what it sounds like from Wikitongues.

This week in language news, every profession has its own lingo. We look into some words unique to the catering industry. Spoiler alert: the “fiesta” shift is not as fun as it sounds. Does your profession use any interesting gargon? We want to know about it!

Special thanks to Mac in Indianapolis for his hilarious lost in translation moment about Hebrew that had us rolling on the floor with laughter!! To submit your Lost in Translation moment, go to our contact section and cough it up!
