Music forms such an integral part of who we are, and it largely stems from whatever culture we are raised in. It gives us a way to express feelings, celebrate, mourn, and just share our identity with the world. As you travel, it’s fascinating to experience the musical world of the place you’re in, and that’s why this week we wanted to share some of our favorite clips of street music from our travels and time living abroad. It paints a rich backdrop for a trip by showing the traditions and history of a place, and it can also tell a bit more about the immigrant communities who live there.
In Language News this week, we look at some “language spats” that get people really riled up. These range from trivial uses of apostrophes, to more serious matters like international relations. Seriously, there are some crazy ones!
Finally, we have a great Lost in Translation story from Taffy in Tennessee, who learned an important lesson on the importance of mimicry when learning another language!
