Episode 52: Hiking while Traveling

This week we take a step back to appreciate an aspect of travel that isn’t usually the first thing that comes to mind when we think of jet-setting: enjoying nature and getting a bit of exercise when we travel by taking in some fresh hiking air! From Rachel’s experiences doing a part of the Camino de Santiago through Northern Spain to Patrice’s experience in the foothills of the Himalayas and lots of others in between, we bring you stories and tips to keep in mind for when you hike while traveling. Patrice’s husband Seth, lifetime hiking enthusiast, joins us for a few stories.

In language news, Blueridge Public Radio released this episode a while back about the perception of the Appalachian accent in the U.S. It’s often looked down upon as too informal and sometimes even unintelligent, which is just unfair. For another example of the Appalachian accent, check out the Liberal Redneck on Youtube.

Stop by our contact section and drop us a line or give us a lost in translation segment, and make sure to review us on iTunes. Maybe that will help Rachel feel better! Happy trails and don’t cough in public.
